Phenolics
RÜTGERS’ product range extends from phenol 99.5 %, o-cresol 99 % and m/p-cresol 98 %, to mixes for example of meta-cresol 40/42, meta-para-cresol 77 and xylenol R. These mixes allow us to satisfy the special requirements of our customers.
A wide range of applications
Phenol from hard coal tar finds use above all in the production of tanning agents and resins. O-cresol is used for phenolic resins for the foundry industry and as a starting material e.g. for agricultural chemicals. Pure m/p cresol can also be converted to resins, however it is also used in the production of flame retardants. The most important uses for phenol /cresol /xylenol mixtures are as solvents for the coating of copper or aluminium wires. There special properties make them almost indispensable for wire enamels. Furthermore, special, extreme low ion blends are used for photoresist resins in the chip industry.
