Resources are valuable. We use them responsibly.

We work toward sustainability from many angles, including the economic perspective. By using 100% of the coal tar feedstock rather than producing high CO2 emissions by burning it in coking plants. By forging ahead with converting production-related emissions to energy in our own incinerators rather than sending them out into the environment. By basing our dealings and relationships with our customers on longevity, reliability and trust. And by focusing company policy on sustainable, profitable growth, a principle that enjoys a long tradition here. One example: Way back in 1916, RÜTGERS acquired fluorite mines in order to ensure the supply of this raw material in the long term.

Products with potential

For us, sustainability also means providing our customers with dependable product quality at the lowest possible prices to ensure smooth production processes. We are constantly searching for new ways to optimize processes, offers and product properties—for our direct customers and for end consumers. The carbon black oil we produce, for instance, improves the wear and UV resistance of car tires, while CARBORES®, our binder for the refractories industry, contains significantly fewer hazardous substances than competing products.
