Progress involves risks. We minimise them.

In 2007 REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) an EU chemicals regulation came into effect. Its intention is to increase the safety of people and the environment and it requires the registration of all chemical substances and their potential risks - one objective that the RÜTGERS Group gives highest priority to.
We recognise our responsibility and are working to minimise any risks at all levels of the production process. As an active member of the REACH-for-Coal-Chemicals Consortium, the consortium of the tar processing industry in Europe, we are heavily involved with our partners in the registration of substances.
Transparency creates trust
So that we can work in this field from a sustainable point of view, we have been in close dialogue for a long time with the authorities, who’s intentions we support. And we expect the same from our customers: We answer for the health and environmental impact of our products within the scope of their intended, mainly industrial use. However, we explicitly distance ourselves from the processing into products whose purposes are not intended or suitable for end users and prevent them with all the means that are open to us.
